Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as 'Botox', short for Botulinum toxin. This is a natural occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles.

What areas can be treated?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat the upper third of the face where wrinkles commonly occur. The three areas are typically the forehead, crow's feet and glabellar lines (lines in between the eyebrows).

This is the most popular aesthetic treatment performed and at Doctor B Aesthetics you can be sure that you are in experienced hands to achieve the best results possible.

Here are some amazing before and after photos demonstrating what a difference anti-wrinkle injections can make when performed by Doctor B, an experienced aesthetic medicine doctor with a special interest in skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing.

Common Questions

  • What is the duration of the treatment?

This usually depends on how many areas are being treated but normally ranges from 30-40 minutes.

  • When will results start to be visible?

Improvements in wrinkles can start to be seen after a couple of days, but normally takes about 14 days for the full effect to take place.

  • How long will the results last?

Typically the results from anti-wrinkle injections last for around 3-4 months.

  • What is a top-up?

We offer a standard dose for all patients. As part of your aftercare at Doctor B Aesthetics you will be invited to a free review appointment two weeks after your treatment, at which point the final result should be visible. If you feel like you would like a stronger effect we can administer a top-up dose to the area. This normally costs £50. Top-ups can only be used up to two weeks following your initial treatment.

  • Is the treatment painful?

Normallly the injections are very well tolerated with minimal discomfort. However, if you prefer, we can use a local anaesthetic numbing cream.

  • I have deep wrinkles, can these be treated?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be very effective for treating different types of wrinkles including deep wrinkles. However, certain wrinkles although much smoother, do not completely disappear with botulinum toxin. These can however be helped by combining anti-wrinkle injections with other advanced aesthetic treatments such as microneedling (collagen stimulating therapy) and chemical peels. If in doubt, please feel free to book a free consultation with Doctor B to discuss things further and see what would work best for your skin.

  • At what age is it recommended to start with anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to prevent the appearance of wrinkles. Therefore we often recommend to start from mid 20's as this is often the age when fine lines start to become visble.
