Electrolysis often offer instantaneous results but the number of treatments required depend on your specific blemish and skin condition.

What Conditions Can Be Treated With Electrolysis?

Electrolysis can be used to treat a number of skin condition including:

  • Thread veins
  • Blood spots
  • Spider naevus
  • Skin tags
  • Milia

Some of the possible causes of vascular blemishes, milia and skin tags are: ageing, skin fragility, sun damage, excess of alcohol intake, smoking, diet, hormonal, pregnancy, physical trauma (comedone extraction), high impact exercise, hypertension, diabetes, hereditary, etc.

Thread Veins

Thread veins are permanent dilated capillaries (small blood vessels). Capillaries have very thin walls and as we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated.

Blood Spots

Blood spots are bright red, superficial and circular vascular blemishes. These are often round and/or slightly raised and are frequently found on the midriff. Most people aged over 30 have at least one and they are often more common in men than in women.

Spider Naevus

A spider naevus consists of a central dilated blood vessel with smaller capillaries radiating from it like legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the nose, chin or cheeks.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are lesions mainly found in areas of friction such as the underarm, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces and collars irritate. They often appear with a stalk attachment, like a mushroom and vary in size from smaller than a grain of uncooked rice to the size of a large pea.

Milia

Milia are tiny, white, hard, round spots which lie superficially under the skin which contain keratin. They are commonly found around the eyes, forehead and cheeks. Their cause is unknown although they are often associated with dry, dehydrated skin.

Common Questions

  • What is the duration of each session?

The length of the treatment will normally be 15-30 minutes.

  • How many sessions are recommended?

You can expect immediate results followed by a short recovery time. In some cases more than 1 session is required depending on the type of lesion and your skin reactivity when performing the procedure.

  • How are thread veins treated?

The tip of the finest, smallest probe possible is introduced along the line of the capillary and high frequency energy is discharged. This ‘dries up’ and destroys the vessel which often disappears as it is being treated.

  • How are skin tags treated?

There are a number of different techniques depending on the location and the size of the tag. Results are effective, instantaneous and permanent for the tags treated.

  • Will my blemishes return?

Results are permanent but depending on the cause of the vascular blemishes/ skin tags more may appear in time.
